Consent to Treatment

A plain-English explanation of what you're agreeing to when you sign our consent form.

Effective date:

1. Assessment

Your first session includes a subjective interview (your history, symptoms, goals) and an objective examination (posture, movement, strength, special tests). You may be asked to change into shorts or a gown; a chaperone is available on request.

2. Manual therapy

Manual techniques may include joint mobilisation, soft-tissue release, trigger-point work, and, in specific cases, dry needling or cupping. Each technique is explained before it's done, and you can stop it at any time.

3. Exercise prescription

You will be given a home programme with dosage and progression. Exercises can cause temporary muscle soreness (24–48 h). Sharp or worsening pain is not expected — message us if it happens.

4. Risks and alternatives

  • Temporary soreness, bruising after manual therapy or needling.
  • Rare vascular events with high-velocity cervical thrusts (we do not perform these).
  • Alternatives: medication, surgery, injection therapy — discussed with your doctor.

5. Chaperones and modesty

A second staff member can be present for any assessment or treatment on request, at no extra cost. Please tell the coordinator when you book.

6. Withdrawing consent

Consent is ongoing. You may withdraw all or part of it at any point without giving a reason. Withdrawing consent does not affect your right to refunds or future access to our services.

7. Records

We keep clinical records to plan and audit your care. See our privacy policy for retention periods and your rights.
